Zooming into the Collimation Zone in a Massive Protostellar Jet

چکیده
Protostellar jets have a fundamental role at the earliest evolution of protostars all masses. In case low-mass (<8 Msun) protostars, strong observational evidence exists that launching and collimation is due to X- and/or disk-wind mechanisms. these models, it protostar/disk system creates necessary conditions launch collimate near protostar via magnetic fields. The origin from more massive has been investigated much less, in part because difficulty resolving zone distant objects. Here we present highest angular resolution observations jet powered by protostar, Cep A HW2 radio jet. We imaged emission projected distances only ~20 au innermost 100 protostellar for first time. morphology this object very different than what usually observed protostars. found outflowing material two components: wide-angle wind launched system, highly collimated starting 20-30 protostar. discuss possible scenarios: an extension classical or external wind. These results important consequences our understanding how stars masses are formed.

Jet quenching via jet collimation
The strong modifications of dijet properties in heavy ion collisions measured by ATLAS and CMS provide important constraints on the dynamical mechanisms underlying jet quenching. In this work, we show that the transport of soft gluons away from the jet cone — jet collimation — can account for the observed dijet asymmetry with values of q̂ L that lie in the expected order of magnitude. Further, w...
متن کاملA highly-collimated SiO jet in the HH212 protostellar outflow
We mapped the inner 40 ′′ of the HH212 Class 0 outflow in SiO(2–1), SiO(5–4) and continuum using the Plateau de Bure interferometer in its extended configurations. The unprecedented angular resolution (down to 0. 34) allows accurate comparison with a new, deep H2 image obtained at the VLT. The SiO emission is confined to a highly-collimated bipolar jet (width ∼ 0. 35) along the outflow axis. Th...

Jet Collimation by Small-Scale Magnetic Fields
A popular model for jet collimation is associated with the presence of a largescale and predominantly toroidal magnetic field originating from the central engine (a star, a black hole, or an accretion disk). Besides the problem of how such a large-scale magnetic field is generated, in this model the jet suffers from the fatal long-wave mode kink magnetohydrodynamic instability. In this paper we...
متن کاملTurbulent MHD Jet Collimation and Thermal Driving
We have argued that MHD turbulence in an accretion disk naturally produces hoop-stresses, and that in a geometrically-thick flow these stresses could both drive and collimate an outflow. We based this argument on an analogy of turbulent MHD fluids to viscoelastic fluids, in which azimuthal shear flow creates hoop-stresses that cause a variety of flow phenomena, including the Weissenberg effect ...
